Third grade students examined the Impressionist paintings of French artist, Claude Monet. We learned about cool colors (blue, green, purple) and how to create tints of those colors by mixing white paint with our colors. We practiced dabbling our paints like Monet to create the effect of water. Then we talked about warm colors (red, yellow, orange) and used cut paper to make our water lilies to complete a water lily pond in the manner of Monet.
